DIY Alternator- Fun

Well, I needed to replace my original Marchel Alternator on my 74 911, so I went to our host and ordered a Bosch to replace it. Here is the pic of my old and new Alternator I WAS going to install.

I am sure I'm the only one that has found the Bosch to not be a fit, so I guess I will call Pelican back this week to figure out what Alternator I need for my 74. Yes you can start laughing . . . . or enlighten me as to the right Alternator that will properly fit.

That's nothing that some grinding stones and a five pound sledge won't fix!

I do not disbelieve in anything. I start from the premise that everything is true until proved false. Everything is possible.

There is one model of alternator found on '74s that you can get brushes for (here). Let us know how yours went - I need to do the same.

Charles,
Our Fleet mechanic swears by Laser Electric in Stayton, OR for rebuilds.
Might be worthwhile giving them a call.
