I feel so out of it........I did not know I had to put the tools I use to work on my 911 in a German tool box....and an ugly one at that!!

AND.... I did not know that Assistant had an "E" in it!!

At least my toolbox looks like it houses tools that are used and not polished every day!!!

Wow, that was one of the first things I was told to do in Porsche indoctrination!

It's about portability and efficiency, roll all your needed tools up to the car. I bought one, well worth the price.

How do you determine what you need before you roll it up to the car?? Most jobs will need more tools than that.

I use mine to set up a specific task. The tool box contents change with the task.

As much as I ike the Assistents, I'll just stick to my IKEA trolley like Jack and Rob. It's not fancy, but it does the job.

Edit: The Ikea ones have gone up to $88? They were $50 when I got mine.

It's a bit weird; I got mine at IKEA for $35 (http://www.ikea.com/ca/en/catalog/products/90333976/). And that's Canadian Monopoly money. How is it that you guys have to pay so much more? That's gotta be a first for anything where we pay less. Maybe it's because they're not available in that blue/green colour any more...

I just bought one for roughly US$26 a couple weeks ago.

It works great, but I do think the Hazet stuff looks cool.

They are being cleared: $26 US = $35 Cdn

I'm picking up a few this afternoon for local Pelicans

Glad you were local and able to pick that up. I am in the wrong corner of the US, otherwise it would probably be mine now.

Yep, much appreciated, I will check with you first if I ever decide to sell it down the road. I did an internship as a youngster at a Bmw dealer in Germany and every wrench worth his nuts n bolts had one. Very cool tool, thanx again and have a rad day.

I have a newer one, I keep it pretty full with 90% of the tools I use on the Porsche and VW.

I keep the top clear to put stuff

Second shelf holds sockets, wrenches, pliers, drive tools, small prybar, gasket scraper, cotter pin puller, picks.

Third shelf holds screwdrivers, less common tools like flare nut wrenches, multimeter, zip ties, brushes, files, plastic bags, punches and chisels

Bottom tub holds my 2.5-25 Nm and 16-80 Nm torque wrenches, 16 and 40 oz hammers, oil extractor pump and hoses, box of latex gloves, 15" adjustable wrench, 24mm wrench and medium pry bar.

Most of my other stuff lives in my little workbench like my 60-320 Nm torque wrench, my power tools and my 1/2" drive tools. I live in a townhouse and split a 19'x19' garage but I was able to pull and rebuild the engine in my 912E almost entirely out of my Assistant. When not in use it's collapsed and in the corner barely taking up space.

Is it a necessary thing for working on P-cars? Hell no. I did serious work with a quarter of the tools I have now, scattered all over the floor. Honestly I'd probably be better off with a 27" tool cabinet but the portability is very nice.

I wanted an Assistent, kept looking for a deal and won a Lista in the meantime. Tons of strong surface area (I could drop the engine on it), and still rolls around easily with crazy weight, plenty of room for tools and they can be locked up which Assistent can't do
If you have the means, I highly recommend picking one up. But be careful, they're heavy.

I got the IKEA trolley based on Jacks recommendation 2-3 years ago...it has been EXTREMELY useful and still looks good. I actually moved it to my patio and have been using it to hold BBQ equipment. Its outside 24/7 in brutal sun and heat...still looks great. Probably getting another one.

The collapsible and fully enclosed versions can be locked.
Here is the locking latch on my Assistent, which is pictured on the first page. You'll notice this latch on several others too.

Better get on it. I think they're clearing them out in preparation of dropping the product.
