Hazet tool trolleys, assistent

Admission: I am a tool whore.
In my youth I worked at a Mercedes shop and was rewarded a Hazet assistent for my tools. Since that time I've moved onto a different career but have always wanted a big solid tool box. I have had a Mac, Snap-on, and the stainless ones from China...but I always had my eyes on a Hazet.
While thumbing through the Hazet catalog I noticed the big heavy boxes weren't in there. I contacted a rep and was told they are no longer being built but are still available.

A little review
166c is the bigger classic style, the 166n a little smaller

review here
Hazet Assistent 166N vs 166C - The Garage Journal Board

172

Then there are the cabinet style ones that are very beefy. THESE ARE NO LONGER BEING BUILT:

I picked up a 173-2 and it is terrific. Rated at 1650 lbs loaded. Weighs 320 lbs!

The 173 and 180 are the heavy duty ones being discontinued.

The 179 lives on and is apparently much more flimsy.

The 180 and 173 are also available with Porsche decals

I purchased mine (and some sweet Hazet pullers) from a dealer with a presence on Garage Journal and ebay named Jens Putzier Werkzeuge. I have no affiliation but the transaction was terrific. Competitive pricing and more importantly he knows the customs regulations.

info@jensputzier.com

I also considered Geodore and Stahlwille but these seemed the most bomb proof.

Certainly these aren't for everyone and I don't wish to discuss the merits and price versus other alternatives. Prices fluctuate with exchange rates and freight so Jens is the best source for current prices on assistents are anything Hazet for that matter.

These are cool trolleys and i´m a bit jealous....
Money well spent.
We are also working with Hazet Assistent trolleys.
It's not just a trolley but also a cool decoration for every garage.

I like the Hazet. Just too pricey. I went with a Beta C41-H for my race trailer.

I'm jealous of the Assistents. I have the poor man's version -- not even in the same league, but it's what I've got. It's an Ikea kitchen cart with some dividers welded in and a little plasti-dip.

Edit: The Ikea ones have gone up to $88? They were $50 when I got mine.

Beautiful tool boxes (trollies/etc).

I recently purchased a Hazet Assistant. Model One - Version One Pre-Prototype. At least that's what the guy told me at the yard sale.

Seriously, it ain't pretty, no sliders on the drawers, just box drawers in a box. Heavy duty with wheels.

It has take over as the primary tool carrier. It is awesome. Drawers are really deep AND I can get it close to the work.

Here is the (now) secondary box. Mid-1990's Craftsman (Waterloo) box that is Matco/MAC quality. Doubt Hazet quality. $1,500-ish I got for $900 new. Have not seen any Craftsman stuff of this quality since. Box underneath is a used Akron U chemistry department work unit. $30 at their used furniture warehouse.

Reason I am posting this is the trolly/"assistant" is a big time saver. I am not trying to show off.

Dear All,

just to let you know that I finally managed to start my own webshop out of Ebay at jensputzier.com

It will eventually be filled with all Hazet parts, Reilang hand pumps and oilers, Knipex, Stahlwille and Brockhaus Heuer vises.

In the meantime if there is an item you can't find, send me an email.

All items bought in that shop and shipped by UPS to the USA and Australia are duty free, that means that I will pay your import duties.

If you look at the larger Assistents you will notice that sometimes shipping rates are close to the price of the actual items, but bear in mind that this is individual air freight shipping and all other methods (e.g. sea freight) contain a high risk of the item getting damaged and you expriencing transit times of weeks. Air freight is usually under a week (my record was 27 hours door-to-door to New Jersey).

I bought a beater Hazet tool cart when I imported my 76 westfalia trailer. It was shipped in the trailer I would really want a nicer one but they seem to be really expensive. Got mine for like $100. As you can tell it is probably just barely worth that.

Folks, a garage journal member has one of these used for sale. He's somewhere around the Seattle area for a short while - then "back to Idaho"

He's asking $200.

Hazet Assistent Trolley - The Garage Journal Board

Location: Silverdale, WA
Price: 200

Up for sale is my Hazet Assistent Tool Trolley. It is one of the earlier ones because the posts don't fold down. I picked this up while I was stationed in England. I cleaned it up a bit, but could be cleaned up more. Would look great next to a Volkswagen or Porsche. I'm in Silverdale near Seattle till next week or so then back to Idaho. Asking $200.

Can you retrofit the folding posts to an earlier Assistant?

It's not "beat up". It's got "patina".
