I heard ND 02 sensors reacted more quickly than Bosch, and give better response.

I thought the O2 through the wire was crazy also and then I looked for a sensor to prove that correct.
Edit from here on...hit the wrong button.
You can see the black wire goes into the sensor (sealed) and that is a very expensive rubber cover for that cheap spade connector at the other end. Maybe the Bosch design does get O2 through the cable. I don't remember which car this sensor is out of.

Well I am glad now that I revived this thread 5 years old now. I really thought I would get blasted. Perhaps Wil should re-contact his original source let to let him know there is a crack in the ice. It might be interesting to dissect one of those fancy Porsche connectors and see if there is are any ports or tiny felt filters or such. But that connector is apparently not available so If you have a good one I wouldn't chop it up.

The thread that wouldn't die!

Just bought a Bosch Universal and the directions specifically say:

"Do NOT solder wires. Soldering wires will lead to early sensor failure."

Comes with a super-fancy sealed connector to splice into the original sensor harness.

Very interesting thread. and i thought I knew a lot about O2 sensors! By the way they put out 0 to 1 volt. The new widebands have a much larger range and are much faster. I think they do 0 to 5 volts if I am not mistaken.

I bought a Bosch single wire for my pickup truck a couple weeks ago.....$18.00 at pep boys. simple one wire connector.

Yeah, I looked at using the Ford part number referenced in this thread, but it was the same price at AutoZone that I could get the Bosch Universal for.
