Where are the engine serial #'s located

for a 1965 911? Is it that same number stamped on the rear fan (begins with 901) or is it stamped elsewhere on the case itself. Thanks.

Somebody correct me if I'm wrong, but I think it's in the same location on all 911 engines. There is a case upright post...go to 3:00 on your fan surround....look straight down, and you should see the upright post...moulded into the case, like a brace for the fan surround. THe number should be stamped there. If no number, it means a replacement case was used.
