Mid year Outlaw

Reading the latest edition of "Classic Porsche" and couldn't believe some of the stunningly cool Emory 356 Outlaws out there (just Google it). So I thought, since I am about to embark on a resto project of my SC and wanting to do something different are there any examples of mid year 911 Outlaws in the same cool theme as these 356 beauties? Do they even exist ? Would it even work ? Love your opinions, suggestions, creative advice or even better, your pictures. (oh, as much as I admire his work no Magnus Walkers Pcars please)

Personally, I think it is much harder to make a 911 look like an "outlaw" than a 356. Paint, graphics, lowering, and other tricks (to me) augment the looks of a 356 in a more pronounced way than how the same would affect the look of a 911.

If your definition of an "outlaw" is a set of modifications that take the car away from its original equipment/design, then I think we see many great examples here on Pelican almost every day.

Here's a couple of examples I follow:

R / Outlaw project...

911R project

Pendulum Outlaw, Build, Adventures and Misadventures

These may not be "true outlaw" depending on how you want to define it, but still some cool work in there.

A bunch of mid-year stuff (many with modifications):

Ultimate Mid-Year 911 Thread!

best bastard/outlaw picture thread

Post your Mid Year HOT ROD Pics

And perhaps, the exact opposite:

The ULTIMATE essence Thread.

Of course, there is always the flat-black-shaved-top-big-V8-where-the-flat-six-used-to-be-Outlaw, but let's not go there...

Making a 911 "look" like a 356 outlaw, would in itself be futile......doing a 911 AS an outlaw should be looking at it's own look.

Me? I would chop the top, slam it and do a wheel look unique to itself. Pastel flat paint, blacked out brightwork, dechromed, quiet but throaty exhaust......

Backdating an impact bumper car usually works pretty well. Not sure about turning one into an outlaw. The ones I've seen were more toward the rat rod style and looked pretty awful.

The nicer 356 outlaws mostly seem to emulate early road racers or the LeMans endurance racer style which is very cool.

The closest thing I've seen regarding a shorthood outlaw was a flat black 935 replica called the Blackbird which was an evil looking beast, in a good way.

My ex-pride & joy "budget backdate", definitely not an outlaw ...

Forgot about the Blackbird:

The Blackbird 935 K3 runs!!!

In my opinion, the Blackbird went way past "outlaw" (but still a cool build!).
