More Help Needed, Some Days You Just Can't Win
Well while I wait on the used fan housing I thought now would be a good time to adjust the rear suspension so both sides are the same height. As you know on the '86 Carrera you can adjust the height with the eccentric bolt on the sway plate. Got out my 101 Projects book. Apparently I backed out the nut on the eccentric bolt too far and the head of the bolt backed out of the eccentric hole and I can't get it to go back in. The head of the bolt on the back side of the plate is about 1/16" out. Any suggestions? Would unbolting the bottom of the shock allow the arm to drop enough to take pressure off the sway plate to allow me to line the hole and bolt back up? Please don't tell me I have to disassemble the plate! This day has just sucked!

Your on the right track. Unbolt the shock and your on the way.
With the shock off. Most of the load is off the spring plate. If you still can't get it. You need to jack up the spring plate enough to remove the bottom rear bolt on the t-bar cover. The spring plate rests on it. When the bolt is removed the spacer comes out too. That lets you lower it all the way down. At this point. You should be able to move it any where you want. You can't loosen the eccentrics too much. The step cut in the eccentric is maybe 1/8 deep. Tell me how I know. ![]() ![]() I was in the same place last weekend. This weekend. Pedal to the metal. ![]() ![]()
