This engine is in a 1978 Euro version 911. The date of production sticker in the door jamb shows 5/78 as the production date.
The engine has a green shroud which I've only seen on 2.7 engines. The date stamped in the engine case appears to be 930/03 but I'll check again. |

Is this at all special or meaningful versus 930/04 or only maybe to someone with a '79 ROW SC?

May have answered my own question. Looks like 29 more horsepower in '79 compared to the US version

The 30 Nm more torque is interesting.
Is it the lack of emissions equipment or a different camshaft? I guess both to get that big of a difference at the same RPM??

^^^ Thanks.
I do remember seeing the different distributor curves in the shop manual now that you pointed it out. It's funny how less timing will make a car pass emissions. I used to have to retard the heck out the timing in my Mustang to get it to pass with the cam that was in it. Ahh the 80's.

The only thing I physically found in the early euro 3.0 was the .25 base gasket vs the .5 base gasket.
I never found the cylinders to be different like the Carrera euro and US which have the same casting numbers but different piston heights. Bruce |
