oh yes. it is now Frankfurts main building of the famous Goethe University, all refurbished, a very nice campus.

I do remeber it as a heavily secured US-Forces HQ beeing a boy back in the days.
we admired the GIs and tanks and canons you could see through the fences.

Herr Flo, thanks for the pics of Frankfurt and specifically the Opera house. I was stationed in Frankfurt in 1968 and 69 and I'm very happy to see the Opera house restored. I worked in the Farben building. Is it still in use?

I was stationed in the old I.G. Farben building from 1986 to 1989. V Corps Headquarters moved sometime thereafter to Heidelburg, but that is gone now too. I visited the Farben building in 2006. It is now a university! And the Paternosters were still in operation!!!

I am sitting at a Biturger tent in front of the Alte Opera house as I type this. Bloody hot but that just encourages thirst!

Well... as my 1st is shot (and maybe more) my trans is getting overhauled. engine drop sceduled on friday.

And while I'm in there gifted myself with a Sachs sport clutch kit

got startet too late after work yesterday..., so just drained oil, removed swaybar, loosened axle shafts, and bits... Friday is the day...

while I'm in there -and the trans is at the pro- I'll refurbish the engin tin, seal behind flywheel and bits... we'll see
