Question Door Light Switch Problem

The interior light on my Targa didn't light when I opened the door. I fixed the right door switch by removing, cleaning and reinstalling. When I took out the switch on the left side, there was no wire. I fished around but could not find it.

Does the wire come from the top ( where there might be hope it's reachable) or the bottom?

Any ideas on a fix?

Thanks for your help.

Cool

may be able to find wire from cabin ..under dash on left side.look for rubber grommet on left bulkhead.may have to pull back some glued on shag/fur material...know wire color...remove grommet and sw. wire. then use a stiff wire to use as a feed from under dash hole to find switch hole..now you can tape your sw. wire to stiff wire .........Ron

I spent the day fishing...

I drilled out a small rivet holding the carpet, pulled it down to get some access to the bulkhead penetration, found the brown light switch wire.

Unfortunately I could not get my fish wire to the other side. I tried from both ends but no luck.

It can't be far because the brown switch wire is short.

Is the door hinge structural shape a closed square panel with only a small hole for the wire to pass through? Or is it a U shape and something else is blocking the wire?

Thanks for your advice.

Garage
Once you get it hooked up don't forget to check the overhead light itself. The contacts on the right can loosen over time and cause intermittent operaton. A quick push on the copper contact solves the problems.
