911SC 7 front - 8 back x 16" Fuch Offset?
I'm looking at larger wheels form my 1980 911SC. I am leaning toward 16" Fuchs.
What is the correct offset for these - front and back? TIA Wayne |

i see that the chart does not mention the 911.361.020.xx fuchs:
7x16 = .43 8x16 = .44 they are same as the 911.362.11x.00 fuchs I use 7mm spacers at rear with 8x16 look at this too to give you an idea ![]()

Thanks LJ851 and Flojo - I think ;-)
It would seem that you provide conflicting answers. It would seem to me that LJ851 dimension 16X7 ET 23 and 16X8 ET 10.6 make sense. I don't understand Flojo's 7x16 = .43 and 8x16 = .44 Help please? Wayne |

sorry to confuse... this is the OEM part number ending:
911.361.020.43 and 911.361.020.44 for the early fuchs (til 1980). fuchs from late 1980 (stamped '81) read 911.362.xxx.xx early and late 7 and 8 fuchs are the same offset, i.e. 36 and 10,6 respectively to make it short: get yourself any OEM fuchs in 7+8x16 with 205/55 front and 225/50 rear ![]()

Also keep in mind, if your car came with stock 16" x 6" & 7" Fuchs, the rear 7" Fuchs will fit in the front. So that you only have to buy the rear wheels.
Be careful when buying 8" Fuchs to make sure they aren't 951 model wheels, as noted in the offset picture LJ851 posted. |

Thanks Flojo for your clarification!
Thanks Will for your reply. My car came with 15" (7" & 8") wheels. My plan is to upgrade to 16s because I am having trouble locating tires - specifically for the rear 8x15. |

Since I originally put that chart together, let me point out that I did not include all the variations of wheels that are available
Some additional facts; all the 911 Fuchs 7x16 have the same o/s of 23.3mm and the same overall width and use the same tires, all the 911 Fuchs 8x16 have the same o/s of 10.6mm and the same overall width and use the same tires, all the 911 Fuchs 9x16 have the same o/s of 15mm and the same overall width and use the same tires all the 951 Fuchs 7x16 have the same o/s of 23.3mm and the same overall width and use the same tires all the 951 Fuchs 8x16 have the same o/s of 23.3mm and the same overall width and use the same tires within each category there are multiple part #s used for variations in fish and date of manufacture additionally 911 Fuchs 7x15, and 8x15 have the same os and overall widths as their respective 16" versions and also come w/ various part #s because of multiple finishes and dates of manufacture The 7s of whatever diameter are intended for front use on any 911 and rear use on SC/Carrera body cars(also can be used on the front of 930s w/ spacers) the 911 8s are intended for rear use only on SC/Carrera body cars(also can be used in the back of 930s w/ spacers) the 911 9s are intended for rear use only on SC/Carrera body cars(also can be used in the back of 930s w/ spacers) the 951 versions have bigger brake clearance than 911 versions of the same size 951 7s are intended for front use on any 911, and have been fitted successfully on the rear of any '69 up 911, a little discretion on tire size and setup is required in the back of non SC/Carrera 911s the 951 8s have been use in front of a 911 but it's not recommended and is extremely tight, they have also been fitted to the back of non SC/Carrera body 911 but again it's not recommended. To use them on SC/Carrera body cars you will also want spacers of at least 12.7mm(usually thicker is desirable)

Thanks Bill for you info!
Understanding that all 911 Fuchs have the same offset respectively is helpful. I now know that I need 23.3 front and 10.6 rear. What is sometimes difficult is knowing if the Fuchs in question are 911 or 951 Fuchs. Not to mention finding a set that is in reasonable shape at a reasonable price. Anyone have a set they want to sell :-) Thanks again to everyone. |

There is a way to tell at a glance if the 7 or 8 inch wheels are 951. They will have recessed lug nut holes where the 911 7 and 8 do not. The 911 16X9 and the 951 16X7,16X8 all have the recessed lug holes. |

Also, the 951 Fuchs don't look as deep, when you look at the lip around the center of the wheel. The 951 7" Fuchs outwardly almost look like 16x6" Fuchs other than the fact that they fill the fenderwells better, but you can only see that when they are fitted to the car. Likewise, the 951 8" Fuchs don't look anywhere as deep as the 911 8" Fuchs.
The key is to ask for part numbers stamped on the inside of the wheel when buying Fuchs. Even if buying locally, you should confirm that the wheels are genuine, that they are a matching set, and that they are as advertised. |

well, maybe, but that should not be a KO criteria.
I'd not care if the set was mixed with up-to-'80 and from-'81 fuchs. al that happened is that porsche changed the part-no from .361. to .362. ... all unless they are in such candition that I'd want to buy/use them

I'm saying this because if you have mixed up wheels, there is a chance one of them could be damaged since they were pieced together. Not to mention that the finishes will be hard to match unless you refinish all wheels.

Question - Why did Porsche change the OEM part number in 1980 from .361 to .362 if they are exactly the same? |
