cant find a part anywhere 73 911

I am usually good at finding most any part but am beat with this one. I need the correct timing decal for a 73 911 T,E,S as shown below. All I have been able to find are incorrectl versions that show the Z1 mark as being the same as the 5 degrees ATDC mark which is wrong.

Thanks,

I'm not exactly sure what decal you are looking for but try this one: 911 / 356 Porsche Parts | Porsche, Wurth and Fuchs Wheels | Sierra Madre Collection

Sierra Madre Collection has lots of these things.

I am looking for the one pictured above. The z1 mark is under the right hash line. 5 degrees ATDC is the left line. All the ones I am able to find have the Z1 mark under the left hash which is WRONG. Stoddard and all the usual places don't have the correct one (as above)

Following is what is readly available which is NOT correct

Is the car a ROW? The sticker that you are looking for is multilingual.

Don't know where you could get it.

Good luck

Here is the one that is on there now that I know is original. Just a regular 73 E. Don't they all look like mine and all the repro decals are just incorrect.

CMC,

I have a 71T and mine looks very similar to the picture in post no. 3. It is all in English and has the engine displacement in cu. in.

Also, mine has the note at the bottom about comforts with US dept of HEW Regulations.

That's why I believe it is from a ROW 911. What is the VIN of your car?

Canford Classics - Classic Porsche Restoration & Parts Refurbishment

They sell the early (Porsche K.G.) version, most places only offer the later (Porsche A.G.) version

I looked at the Canford site. They have the incorrect version. Any porsche with a vacuum retard and timing set at 5 degrees ATDC would have my decal. Porsche would not put something on its cars that was blatantly wrong. Pretty sure it is not a ROW car. Not even sure exactly what that is.

John,

I appreciate the help but the decal pictured on the site is wrong. 5 degrees ATDC is not the same as Z1. Anyone who has this on a car with this timing need and there are thousands, will have gross miss information on how to correctly set timing. Don't know where they originated from but Porsche would never put this on a 72, 73 or other car where timing is 5 degrees ATDC.

I don't think you've looked closely at Canford's pictures, The 6th image on page 2 clearly shows the decal you are looking for in the lower right hand corner. I know Alan did a lot of research on this and he would be appalled that he had missed a version.
Canford Classics - Classic Porsche Restoration & Parts Refurbishment

By the way, that IS a ROW sticker , the US version is different.

RSTARGA,

I have been through all the images. The only one that correctly shows z1 as the line to the right is for an SC 3.0. The others labeled as being correct for my car are not correct. Z1 needs to be under the right hash mark as it is on mine.

Thanks,

Chris

Would the fact that I have this decal and I know its original be indicative of my car being a ROW car and is that a good thing?

The one that has the Z1 at the correct angle in the Canford site is for a 2.4 L but I assume it is for the American market it reads 142.8 cu. in.There is an extra line in the Canford decal. The second line is lacking 911TV , also the typography size is different below the second line.
Did you contact them, probably they have it and do not show it in the page.

I believe that the brain trust on this site can easily determine the ancestry of your car if you post the Vin number and the engine number.

Good luck

The PET lists only one timing decal for the 1972-73 cars: 911.006.511.00

No US version of the engine timing decal is listed. Does this mean that the US engine timing decals were not factory? Or has the original part number for a US engine timing decal been deleted from the later versions of the PET?

Here is a pic of another US 911T 2,4 decal:

I was able to finally find the correct decal on the Canford Site. Ordered it through Paypal and should arrive any day. Alan, ower, seems like a great guy.

One of those simple projects that becomes difficult.

Thanks to all

Lastly my vin is: 9113200635 would be curious if it is a ROW car or anything particular it indicates.

Thanks again,

Chris

cmcfaul,

You might open a ticket with our sponsor listing your VIN, Engine Number & Type. They were very helpful to me and quick. Call their 888 number for assistance. I posted on this forum twice and never received an answer. Maybe the right guy on this board didn't see it.

Tom
