3 point rear belt conversion question

Hi folks. I feel like a fool here, but somewhere, I have seen a photo with measurements, on where to put the holes (and what shape) in the rear parcel shelf, to install rear shoulder belts.

I finally have all the parts (including the two "trim rose" pieces) but want to "measure twice, cut once" as they say.... and best I can do right now is eyeball pictures of the outside of the shelf with mounted trim rings and belts.

Anyone know where I can find this, or have a 964 or 88/89 Carrera they can measure for me?

Thanks
-Glenn

I did this not too long ago and did so without measurements. I used a template made from cardboard (as some before me had suggested). Mount the belts on the rear deck and cut a large cardboard panel to mock up the parcel shelf and figure your hole position and size on that then use as a jig to cut holes on the parcel shelf.

I just did this in my 1987. The if your car is a 1984 or later it will already have the threaded mounting points under the reardeck. You can remove the deck and easily measure yourself.

I live outside Philly, if you're near by, I used an old deck I bought off of eBay to make a stencil to plot the holes I needed to cut in my reardeck, you can have it.

Thanks. I'm in good shape with the hole for the screw - just have to hack up the parcel shelf.

That's a good idea on using a cardboard template.

Can I ask you folks - how close is the top edge of the hole to the "bend" in the parcel shelf? And, am I correct in saying that if the hole is properly cut, the trim will "pop in" and stay?

Thanks
-Glenn

trader220, are you going to Hershey?

I live in central NJ, may be doable to meet - but might even be easier to meet at Hershey.

Thanks

Here is a pic of mine. The rosettes sholud be able to stay put themselves in a reasonably cut hole. I think I may have gone with super classy high end black duct tape.

I touch of epoxy on the underside of the rosette. The factory had bendable fasteners but they had the luxury of doing before the trim was on the deck card.

I wont be at Hershey, sorry.
