Charcoal filter issue, Euro - vs - US. HELP!

As I am "cleaning up" the federalisation work dating back to 1984, I have hit a weird setup with the gas and oïl vapors.

There is a long tube leading from the front left inner wing (and then to the small clear plastic canister by the fuel filler tube) back Under the car, into the engine compartment, and into a canister of sorts, that is just in front of the air filter box. The canister just lays there, not attached to anything. into the same canister goes a tube from the oil reservoir by the filler, and another, smaller air tube from an air tube by the inlet tracts.

I gather that he canister is the charcoal filter.

So, could anyone who has an euro 3.2, or knows them enlighten me about the position and connections into that canister? See attached (bad pictures):

Thank you twist. Makes sense.
Does anyone have a picture of the charcoal canister in its correct position?

Pretty please?

I would need to know which tubes go through the inner fender to the canister since my car has been "modified" in that area.
