Clutch Cable Replacement Issue
Hi All,
I am installing a new clutch cable. I procured this from our hosts at least a year ago, just getting to it now. The cable, specifically the outer cover in the rear, which is exposed under the car, seems too long. If I snug it over the protruding tube on the firewall, the cable is too long to fit into the adjustment anchor notch on the gearbox. I will go take a picture, and post it. It seems to be the correct cable, a Gemo 424 427. Anyone else had an issue with this? TIA, Pat

Looks right to me. I would unhook the clutch lever end then attach the part in the trans , a washer and nut on either side of the slotted flange. Then hook the clutch lever end and adjust as needed.

Thanks, John. I hooked the cable onto the lever to hold it while I took the photo. I can't get the cable to push forward enough to attach it. The firewall end is seated.

Not sure why because the cable should bend/flex to allow it to drop in.

John, should the cable route above or below the cantilevered throttle bellcrank rod mounted on the transmission? It doesn't look quite right above the rod.

Above the cantilever rod.
That cable looks right Have some one hold the pedal up to give more slack while you are fitting it on to the transmission.

I used a bungee cord to hold the clutch pedal up. Gave me the slack I needed.

You need about 18 to 21 turns into the Clevis in the tunnel of the cable itself.
