2.7 swapping out to a 3.0 questions...
So Im replacing a 2.7 in my 77 911s with a 1980 3.0 have the electronics sorted out but Im having some trouble with the fuel and oil lines. First would be that I am going to a 3-port FA instead of the 2-port. I wonder if anyone has a contact for a custom rule line builder they have worked with. Looking to get a flex line rather than the metal "S", hoping this gives me a little flexibility in placement of the filter and FA. Both the engine and chassis return lines are male, so I need to adapt that as well.
As i understand it, the 915 gearbox will mate with the 3.0 clutch and flywheel but the 2.7 clutch will not work with the 3.0 flywheel. Correct? Last would be the oil lines. Does anyone know what I would need to change here? going to run it on the 2.7 set-up with no front oil cooler...but will change that in the coming months. Just need to make the connections work. Not much out here on 2.7 to 3.0 swaps... Thanks Chris |

I cant help with much but I'm quite sure the clutch disc will work. I think they were the same unless turbo or g50 applications.

Let me try some of this
A 77 should h ave a 3 port accumulator The clutch packages are all the same from 1972 through 1986 The filter and accumulator all fit on the same stantion from 77 through 83. The accumulator went larger in 80 or 81 but that shouldn't affect any setup. In the 14 prong connector on the engine fold out of. The block the black with purple stripe and jump it to the chassis T connector under the CD box Without the oil cooler I try to remember but the 77 thermal reactor oil return line from the tank to the right front corner of engine..if you flip that line you can reach the 80 oil scavenge line. That will get you running Bruce |

Plus, I wired his new harness to be plug and play for the '76 body harness.
![]() No need to move the purple wire, it doesn't go to the 14 pin connector in his harness and is already run to the white "T" connector. The Fuel pump Safety switch is run to the single brown/black wire that connects beside the 14 pin connector. Last edited by timmy2; 06-17-2014 at 01:31 PM.. |

Trying to contact Boxter Gt
I've sent a few e-mails but I'm not getting a reply. Does anyone have his current e-mail. I've been using len@Autosportengineering.com
I need to replace my tunnel fuel lines. At the same time, I'm relocating the fuel pump from the rear to the front. Lastly, I need fuel lines from the tunnel to the engine compartment. I'm starting my PMO project this weekend and want to get new lines made in the next couple of weeks. |
