I'm Installing four point belts in my 86' 911 Carrera and need some guidance on where to put the inside I bolt for the Lap belt.
There is plenty of room near the tunnel but the question is where and how? Can people please post pictures of their lap belt setups? Any other guidance would be helpful... |

What four point belts are you installing? Are they DOT certified?

Honestly, I'm not sure yet. I have a DAS sport roll bar in the car which will cover three of my 4 to 6 potential mounting points.
I'm on the fence between 4 and 6 point belts and figure if I go with the 6 configuration I'll use the brey Krause sub bar. Either way I need to figure out an inboard mounting location hence the request for feedback from others I.e pictures. I'm also looking for a clean set of recaro LS seats to replace my current factory setup. Drew- |

I fastened the inner seat belt receptacle with a gforce eye bolt. I use a snap hook for the lap belt when at the track and my standard 3 point on the street.

I'm a fan of that idea as it doesn't require drilling two holes in the tub. Are there benefits to mounting the belt to the tub rather than the factory seat belt receptacle point?

Are you planning on using them on the street or for DEs? Most organizations will not allow four point belts on the track. Technically most harnesses are not street legal, although I have not had any issues with my six point harness so far.
I used eye bolts in my stock seat belt bolt holes on the tunnel and rocker to mount my lap belt. The two shoulder belts are attached to my roll bar's cross brace. In order for harnesses to be safe your seats must be designed to accommodate them. Stock seats aren't safe with the harnesses shoulder belts.

What was said above ... you can use the stock seat belt mounting holes for the eyebolts and the Brey Krause sub bar is a nice unit.Be prepared to move your DME back a few inches for access though.
Get the 6 point belts, the Schroth Profi models are really comfortable ! Cheers Phil

Leave the 4 point harnesses for teenagers who have no idea what they are doing. With one exception that I am aware, all 4 point systems are dangerous. Problem is that with both shoulders restrained there is nothing to stop you from going under the waist belt (submarine) in the event of frontal accident (by contrast a 3 point allows your unrestrained shoulder to move forward and you to buckle over the waist belt). In short - you are much safer in the stock three point. The one exception to this is the Schroth ASM (anti submarine) 4 point harnesses. In this system there is a sewn in loop that is designed to lengthen one of the shoulder belts in the event of an accident - to all intents and purposes recreating the effect of the stock three point.
Next problem you have is that even if you are using an ASM harness none of the original seats are designed to work with shoulder harnesses and once again end up more dangerous than the stock set up - in short, because the belts are not restrained inwards by the two holes you see in a racing seat (just above the shoulders) you will probably end up going foward between the belts in the event of an accident. In answer to your question, and presuming you actually care about the safety of yourself, your passenger or anyone else who drives your car and therefore choose to install the right belts, seats and a rollbar the best way to attach the inner belt is to drill a 7/16" hole through the floor behind the seat and attach the belt with a 3" diameter reinforcer on the underside.
