Custom order rear deck lid badge?

I can't be the only around looking to have a badge in the rear deck lid of my car a-la '73 RS with the 2.7 one?

I ordered one through our host back in March, only for 2.5 months later to be told that they were not going to be able to sell any this year because their vendor had been giving them problems.

One of the guys at Vertex referred me to an individual at The Samba overseas in Lebanon (?), but he never wrote me back despite having an advertisement at the website.

So, does anyone know any vendor who can do a 3.5 badge with the classic Porsche font?

Please post your experiences in getting one made. I am trying to avoid seeking a 2.5 badge and merging it with one that has a 3 in front of it, as it'd likely not look as good as a new one made specifically with the 2 desired numbers.

Thanks in advance!

Sub'd. I'd like to get a 3.2 badge, same as my avatar.

JQ911 06-30-2014 04:00 PM

I ordered a 3.2 badge same as the avatar of Arner2 from our host 6 months ago and was told that its being made. I guess I won't be expecting it to arrive so there goes my money. I made a follow up sometime February and was told it was coming but its already June or should I say July.

No affiliation, but these appear to be of very high quality:

Unsure if these guys do custom work but it doesn't hurt to ask:

Well, not entirely. But if he made the numbers in silver vinyl so that we could stick them on a black metal or plastic backer...

Uwon 06-30-2014 06:41 PM

Need a chrome for a 3.4. Guess I'm SOL, pity.

Tsunamiboy 06-30-2014 07:45 PM

Here is the correct combination

I finally got around last week in emailing the only 2 entities included in this thread, and Design 911 out of the UK responded right away saying they don't do it, nor are aware of some vendor that does it. As to Arnie Brown, never had the decency to even return the email.

Anyone have any other sources that can make these?

If you have a 2.8, or another Audi displacement, their badges are the same (or extremely similar) script. Check it out:

Arne2 07-16-2014 07:01 AM

That's a thought. Not exactly the same, but if you don't have the 911 emblem on the back, matching exactly is probably not absolutely necessary.

If you are still looking for an authentic 2.7 rear deck badge check our **********.com or Sierra Madre Collection. I accidently ordered one from each place; they both sell Genuine Porsche and cost around $60.00 (I sold the extra one on eBay to some guy in Brazil!!)

They have other displacement rear deck badges as well.

I need one to say 3.5, so off to eBay I went and saw that Nissan uses them frequently, so I pulled the trigger, as it appears no one in the Porsche universe can make a custom one... It look decent and paid $12.00 for it, including shipping!

JAR0023 07-22-2014 12:56 PM

Interesting. I just stumbled over to eBay. The 3.2 badge from a 96 Isuzu Trooper looks as good if not better than the Audi. Bottom would have to be trimmed but the 3 . 2 is set up as one unit for easier attachment. -J

Probably worth sending them a picture of the '3.2' emblem that used to be available. I wonder if the price would come down if there were more than one in a batch?

Geronimo '74 07-24-2014 07:49 AM

Maybe this guy can make some

That thread appears to be about the guy who was most recently making them for Pelican. Since Pelican can no longer get them, and the original maker hasn't visited the forum since February, I think it's safe to assume that we aren't going to be able to get them from him any time soon.

OttoB 07-25-2014 10:46 AM

When I saw the post about Rebadge.com, I emailed them right away. Not even 15 minutes later, I got a call from Kyle who assured me he could do it.

Within the day, he showed me this and I now need your help to determine the size for the new badge. Could someone get those dimensions and perhaps post a pic next to a measuring tape, please?

Give Rebadge a chance - they are very enthusiastic and cool!

wrong font

dan88911 07-25-2014 01:23 PM

Anyone know the correct font?
I am also curious of the badge dimensions.

Arne2 07-26-2014 08:51 AM

I got the dimensions of a factory 2.7 badge from someone here a while back. I'll look to see if I can find where I saved them. It is somewhere in the neighborhood of 1" tall by 3.75" wide.

As for font, here's a couple to peek at. The 3.5 I photo chopped from the 3.2.

Rebadge.com 07-28-2014 07:44 AM

Hi guys. I'm Kyle from Rebadge. Thank you Otto for the recommendation!

The font is still square because I don't have final dimensions. Once the piece is resized, it will receive all the correct radii. I render designs and will edit, change and alter until it is perfect, for each and every client.

Please feel free to email me with any questions or requests! Thanks!

Kyle@rebadge.com

Rebadge.com 07-28-2014 07:46 AM

Arnie: I also received a size from a client this weekend measuring 3.25" x 0.875"; similar but different. I can make them any size, so whichever dimensions are most requested, I will make it happen.

Cheers,
Kyle

Here is a 3.5 using the original Porsche font that I got from the local dealer a few years ago. It is not the same as the rest posted, but pretty sure this is a Porsche font (used on letters, not necessarily on badges of cars....). Assuming that the correct width is in fact 3.75" (this one is 3.76" wide), then the height turns out to be 0.887".

There is a 3.2 badge for sale right now in the classifieds.

Still waiting for someone to design a "Grady Clay" badge and give the proceeds to his education cause! Make a round version of Wayne's pelican tribute. Just do something!!! :)

Arne2 08-04-2014 07:31 PM

Here are the "correct" (?) dimensions.

Width = 84.45mm

http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1407209230.jpg

Height = 21.40mm

http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1407209266.jpg

If not using tape mount, the mounting studs need to be about ¾" in length. Height turns out to be exactly the span of two bars on the later plastic decklid grill.

Thank you for making the time to help some of us out with these photos showing the measurements!

I did the math and the length roughly equals to 3.25 inches across and .84 high. Once Kyle from Rebadge finishes mine and I get it painted to match the accents in the car, I will of course post a pic of it!

trader220 08-07-2014 11:32 AM

So whats the verdict? Will we be able to buy a 3.2 badge?
