1974 Carrera i'll problem
After driving the car and stopping, as in parking or coming to a stop sign, the idle is very slow to return from about 2000 to 1000. This does not happen every time but on some occasions and it's always related to stopping. Not sure if it's related to the car being warmed up or not, have not checked that. Otherwise the car runs great, starts fine. Thanks Steve

I don’t know, but it will help to clarify if it’s a US Carrera with cis or ROW with MFI.

Yes of course and my apologies for the spelling error. This is an Idle problem in aCIS System (an American car.) Thanks Steve

There are many CIS problems that can lead to this. You might want to do some basic CIS ignition trouble shooting starting with WUR control pressure. A mixture too rich can also do this. It would help to tune it if you have some kind of gas meter at the tail end.

thanks for the info. Before this occurred, I did run pressure checks on the CRS system and they were all normal. Perhaps it's a little rich. I think it's just a single screw that adjusts the mixture on a K-Jetronic. Correct? Thanks again Steve

Not sure how original your car is, but there is allot of low hanging fruit before you mess with the CIS. Lots of throttle rod bushings and parts that will be end of life if they are still there at all:
Throttle console bushings Transmission pivot bushings Throttle rod coupler Throttle rod to body diaphragm Transmission tunnel bushings Gas pedal pivot on the pedal cluster Plus, all the little linkage ball joints and throttle body could probably use a drop of oil Have fun! I have replaced all of these parts on my current car and and a combo of parts on different 911s. They are usually all junk by now. |

Thanks again Eastbay. I will post the list as soon as I get a chance to work on this. Steve
