Various questions

Hi all, I've just had to re register as i haven't used this forum in a long while and my old email is invalid, so please don't think that I'm butting in on things. I'm close to finishing a 1970 911 e total rebuild and have just a few questions to ask the very wise people out there. Q1, on the throttle bodies I have noticed that there are small circular black plastic spring retainers on the throttle shafts ( 1972 911 t bodies ) that help the springs hold their position, where can I get a set of these as mine are broken. Q2, my Bosch distributor has a thin Bakolite shim at the base of the shaft internally below the counterweights, this is in pieces, where could I get one or will it work without it. Q3, I have just purchased a new set of SSI heat exchangers but for a 1972 onwards, the left hand exchanger has a heat box covering the lower pipes which I'm sure I don't need. Should I cut this's out ???? Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks.

I can't help with the MFI questions but I have had the experience of having to sign up new after being off the forum for 5 years or so.

Just my way of bumping your questions back to the top.

Actually I can answer one or two questions.

partsKlassic dot com should have the parts you need for your distributor. They had a shim kit for my '78 and seem to specialize in early year distributors.

If you want heat from your heat exchangers don't cut anything off. Maybe post a picture of what you are referring to on the SSI's.

The tinware here is ( i believe ) is not needed for my 1970 2.2e , but comes as standard on 2.4 onwards, so was thinking of cutting this off.

Thanks for the picture, it helps a lot.
I believe the tinware in question is used to direct warm air to the warm up system for the MFI air intake system.
