It's About F'ing time!!

So four, yes four years ago my oldest son gets signed off for his PDS license with POC and goes out for his first solo drive...he does a few laps I'm waiting for him to come around again but nothing...keeping waiting..then slowly he limps back obvious something is wrong. Gets out "I just lost power" engine sounds bad...not catastrophic but not good. Tow it to my guy....over revved motor..son denies...that is a whole different story. Finances are tight so it has to wait...wife and I go through a financial restructure not soley based on the 911 just wanted to do it, payed off cars, no more credit cards etc. Then unfortunately my Mom dies a year ago this past March and my Father dies this past February....car not such a priority.
Flash forward to three weeks ago....911 is at the mechanic for rebuild finally...yes over revved FOR SURE...son admits...going from third to four caught second and let out the clutch. Mechanic says engine probably hit 10,000rpms!!!
Bent valves, rocker arms and an obliterated clutch that my son has to wear around his neck,P&C's are good some pitting on the cams from wear and tear, 185,000 on the engine but its getting done, more money than I wanted to spend but I'll have a bullet proof engine when its done...and the son stays out of the drivers seat!!!!

A very expensive WHOOPS!

Wen on the track I am super careful about shifts. I would rather lose time that an engine. Of course I am an old geezer and I can't care any less about winning or losing, I just want to have fun and not lose an engine, clutch or transmission.

I haven't been too tough on him, just your friendly father son ribbing. I let him drive it and knew what could happen. Thanks for the heads up on the Seine kit I'll check it out.

Get a new car - that shifts easier - for your son; and don't look back...
