Where does the ground strap attach to the alternator
I bought this 3.0 with the engine harness already removed and now I'm having trouble figuring out how to wire it back up. I think I have the brown, blue and red wire correct, but I have a braided line that connects on one end to the case. Where does the other end connect?

Braided ground cable connection.......
Quote:
If my memory serves me right, I think it's connected to one of the studs holding the air diverter. The ones (studs) shown in the picture (alternator fan housing). Tony |

Tony is right. It will only reach the closest stud so there is no confusion.

Here is the only photo I have. The ground strap is currently disconnected in this photo but it was bolted onto the lower stud that the fan diverter was connected to.

It is connected to the 6mm stud that is coming off the diode pack
It is a 10 gauge brown wire not a braided strap The braided strap was used on earlier engines

I disagree, that diode pack stud is at 12V positive, note that both studs are labelled B+. It should go under one of the fan shroud studs with suitable washers to ensure a good connection. It provides a better earth connection from the body of the alternator to the engine than is provided by the metal to metal contact provided by the retaining strap around the fan housing.

Thanks, The connectors on the ends of the braided line would support the connection to the bolt on the case.
