85 911 Questions

There is a tube on the right side that travels from the trunk to the passenger footwell blower area. It is about 1-1/4 in. in diameter. Both ends were originally covered with plastic/rubber caps. They disintegrated when I touched them. Does anyone know what this passage was for?

Also, has anyone reparied a rear bumper guard? I have a hole in one of mine, but I can't think of a way to properly repair it so it would look good. Any leads on where to find a good, used one? I have tried the obvious sites, but with no luck. I know our host and an aftermarket supplier have them, but $$$$$$$$$- OUCH!

Thanks.

From the passenger side footwell area. The footwell blower has been removed.

From the trunk area.

Just wait for the bumper guards to pop up in the used parts section. Plenty of people remove them for weight savings(which you could also do).

It looks like the hole is where the cardboard tube goes to supply air the AC vents on the sides. The little bitty vents that are almost useless near the door.

Just a heads up, if those yellow wires threaded through the small hole are distributing power I'd be concerned about a fire or a short.

pm me on the bumper. I may have one. Which side is it? I believe GH85Carrera is correct. I thought this is where the footwell blowers connected?

No, it's not where the footwell blowers connect. I removed those and those hoses/ducts are different. These small openings actually had caps on them. I will check to see if the side vents in the dash are connected. That also means there is a connection on the other side, the trunk side, that is open.

The yellow wires are speaker wires for an aftermarket stereo the PO had installed. They are going.

Thanks to all.
