Parking light on all the time!!!!HELP

I hope someone can help me. I am putting my car back together after a respray and have run into a problem. Headlights were installed three days ago and all was fine. Tonight we were installing the parking lights, turn signals and fog lights. Now the dim parking light in the headlight itself is always on as well as the parking lights in the bumper. Turn signal works fine as well as the low beam and high beam. This is only on the drivers side. Passenger side works fine. Please help with any info you may have. Thanks. Joe

You don't happen to have the lever pushed down to signal left do you?
This is the way the European "parking on the street at night" option works.
The small lamp in the headlight and the running lamps light up with car turned off.
If you don't have the lever in the left signal position I would suspect the contacts in the lever as a possibility.

+1. That is the way it's supposed to work: Take the key out of the ignition, with the light switch off, and with the turn signal lever in the right or left position and the parking lights are on on the right or left side, including the right or left headlight parking light. If you leave the light switch on and turn the key off and take the key out the all parking lights including both headlight parking bulbs stay lit.

Thanks guys, you nailed it. I was trying to sort out some bad wiring from previous owner and was trying to determine the turn signal wire. I had the left turn signal lever on.

This is what makes this forum so good.

Even though I know how the signal/park light is supposed to work, I occasionally forget and figure I have a wiring problem. Then I remember.
Good luck,
Dave
