Easier steering after Turbo Tie Rod install and alignment?
I finally had the Turbo tie rods installed and wondering why I didn't do it sooner. The steering is much more direct and it now takes about half of the previous steering effort.
My car always felt like it took some serious muscling to turn, I assumed it was part of the no power steering experience, but now it only feels a hair harder to turn than a normal power-assisted rack. Does this mean my OEM tie rods were shot?

Seems more likely to be a result of the alignment - I know getting the front end toe and caster right makes a huge difference in steering effort.
I've interchanged both the turbo, non-turbo, and even direct heim joints and haven't felt much difference in steering effort. Chuck.H '89 TurboLookTarga, 386k miles |

I have no frame of reference since I haven't driven another 911 in a while and I don't know what the alignment was prior to putting the tie rods on.

Ditto on this. No change in steering effort when installing turbo tie rods on my car, but then the toe and caster were fine before and after.

MrBonus... I just did my Turbo tie rods and noted much better twitchy responsiveness. I also added the bump steer kit and that made a big difference in feel over bumps. Did Bear Alignment do your alignment? They did a nice job on mine and were reasonably priced.

I believe they lowered the front about a quarter inch in the process and it looks much better and it drives so damn well that I'm kicking myself for not doing this two years sooner. ![]()

Yes that is Pasha cloth

I've been wondering about the alignment of my car, it's so heavy that I am worn out by the end of an autocross run.
