A porous cylinder head on your Norton!AHH!!I thought I was the only one! That drove me nuts trying to figure where in the hell it was coming from, but lo and behold, it was bleeding right out of the casting!Bought another used head, rebuilt it,and 17 years later it's still running great.1965 G15CS.My first car I bought when I was 15,a 1960 MGA for $100.Towed it home, rebuilt the engine, painted it British Racing Green, and VALA,on my 16th birthday I was the happyist kid in town.

This is an interesting discussion. I am glad to hear at least some Brits do not consider "limey" a bad word. I had 3 TR 4's and a Lotus Europa Twin Cam/5 Speed. Some of my fondest memories are those cars. Sure you had to be a mechanic to own one, but after awhile you came to know what was going to go wrong. Like on the TR the pigtail on the distributor condensor would often go away - I always carried a spare condenser, and a tool kit. They were so easy to work on. And they had a feel for the road that even 911's have lost. Who ever decided a rear or mid-engined car needed POWER STEERING? Porsche should make this an option and not mandatory. As a daily driver I will take a 986/996 over an older 911, but give me an '88 or older 911, or a TR 4 or Lotus Europa when I really want to play. I wish I could afford to have them all.

Nortons, Vincents, Goldstars....
Seems there are a lot of Brit-Iron bikers around here. There'll always be an England, but unfortunately, the great 'ol limey lumps are gone for good. (And yes, I know they are making "Triumphs" again. Really just a Jap bike with a "Made In England" sticker on it.)
