why sell after all that work? this car looks excellent man, very well done! enjoy this for a while!

flyn-hawn 04-15-2015 12:38 PM

Thanks everybody, but I've had it long enough time for someone else to enjoy it, before I scratch it or worse wreck it!
Anyway here are some more photos from today, I put some polished fuchs on it to give it another different look. You coud take off all the vinyl and run those with all the brite trim and chrome pieces I think it looks good, a little stealthy stock under the radar

Stop it flyn-hawn or I might buy it. I am out of the OC for about a month. If it is still available when I get back I might come down and visit you. Serious.

That looks perfect

ennisk1 04-21-2015 09:10 AM

Very nice build and similar to my plans for my 1978 911SC. Good luck!

FWIW, I've seen this car in person and it's beautiful. The couple of times I stopped in during the build process I could easily tell that Dave knows what he's doing, is very meticulous and does quality work. This is not a "rushed" project, thrown together to make a quick buck. It was a labor of love, as they say, and it shows in the final product. Someone will get a fabulous car at some point, which wont be a long time away at the price point.

Damn this car looks sick! Nice work!

He bumped the ad the other day indicating the deal fell through. :(

Thank you again for the compliments, and yes the car is available again. The winning bidder from the ebay auction made a deposit and paid me more money to have me change a few things to his spec. Black Carrera RS graphics, repolished the original 16" fuchs, new bridgestone potenza RE11's 205/55 front and 245/45 rears, sourced and reupholstered a set of rear seats, top and bottom to match the front. The guy is a really nice guy and I don't really understand but I don't know what to say about it. He inspected the car and drove it and seemed that he really liked it, however he informed me yesterday he could not complete the transaction. It is unfortunate as it will probably taint the car now, people wondering why the deal did not go down. I was utterly stunned by his decision, after taking the car off market for almost 3 weeks and in contact with him all along making changes to it. The changes were only cosmetic but in my opinion the car now looks like most other Carrera RS tribute cars. I thought that with the gold it gave it a more unique personality. Everyone has their own tastes which is cool I can go along with that. It would be easy enough to change back, but some of the people that saw the car before think that it looks better now and may appeal to a wider audience. I will probably put the RS airdam bumper back on now that I will be relisting it and take some more professional photos of it in that configuration as I do not have any like that.
Anyway here are a couple shots of it the way he wanted it, which is how it sits now. Just waiting on the front bumper stripes to arrive and I will change out the front bumper.

Just curious as I've been following this and seen the car around. Did it ever sell?

flyn-hawn 09-08-2015 02:21 PM

Yes, I sold it to Dick Barbour in July, he had it advertised for 85K and he sold it in less than a month I believe.

flyn-hawn 01-19-2018 03:30 PM
