Wowzas. Very jealous. I want to do my SC in light ivory with similar mods. Just stacking parts right now until I'm ready. Very inspiring.

Dpmulvan, A friend of mine not far from my father in laws where I am doing the car, did it. Thanks was busy most of the day with life, but I did get the Carrera script on :) I am waiting on the stripe for the front bumper and my chrome parts to get back, mainly door handles, gas cap and headlight trim rings. Debating whether or not to bolt up the hood as I need to pull the tank to finish welding and paint it. Also debating putting on the rubber decklid and hood hold down straps, I kinda like it now it seems cleaner and not too busy.... http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1427330533.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1427330546.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1427330563.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1427330582.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1427330601.jpg |
Stunning dude. Great job.

The car looks great! Nice work.
Are the bumpers TRE as well? How did you mount the rear bumper? Any pictures? |

The front was an old GT Racing and the back was an old race bumper I picked up at the Phoenix club swap meet sevaral years ago while I was collecting parts for this project. The forward mount I cut a piece of aluminum and bent it on a brake, screwed it to the bumper in position and then glassed it on. Drilled it and bolted it to the factory bracket. The rear one I cut off the fiberglass mount, as it did not fit the SC, and left enough room to dril a hole. Then got some flat stock and cut to size and put some bends in it and I think I bolted it to one of the old bumper shock mounting points. While the car was apart I tightened up the bolt on the bumper end in the correct position so that it would not move later and it was just a matter of bolting it to the body later( it was yellow zinc plated and nice and shiny but the position was correct and I did not want to hassle getting it back into position if I removed it when I undercoated the bumper so it got painted). So 2 M8 and 2 M6 bolts, I may put some small sheet metal screws in the factory spots along the lower lip of the quarter panel, not so much to hold the bumper as it is solid as is, but to suck the bumper up a little better to the body. Being it was a race piece it was super thin and flimsy/flexy http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1427378973.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1427378983.jpg |
I like this car and just saw it posted on pelican by Paul at Braid Wheels recently. It kind of captured alot that I wanted in my car. Once I get the RS photos done I will be removing the Carrera script and replacing with the 3 bar decals like on this car. Also putting the plain decklid and "S" style bumper and maybe see how she looks with the polished fuchs back on also.

Had the car at the Festival of Speed event this weekend up in Fontana, you can see it on the trailer the photo is a little grainy. If I missed any pelicans please feel free to chime in here on what you thought of the car. Maybe I should have pulled it off the trailer, but I did not and it was actually a little better up there people were able to look under it a little better. Rave reviews from everyone looking at the car which was really nice because I was a little apprehensive about the colors and how it would be received. Talked with a few pelicans and they had nothing but praise for it, thank you. Just got it off the trailer this morning and took it around the block, first drive since I've started the project and it is running great! Still need to get it in for alignment, have a few adjustments and waiting on some more parts to button her up. If you know of anyone looking for an awesome backdate this car is for sale, I have an ad in the cars for sale forum and probably going to start advertising more widely this week. Thanks |
man...you should just keep the car...after all that work!!!

http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1428958289.jpg JLC, thank you, I have debated shortening the length on the pipes, but they have kinda grown on me. Besides that it's different nobody else I see has longer pipes. It does suck walking around the back of the car and forgetting about them though! |

Wow. Much better.

Oh man! GLWS, she is a beauty.
