Ok, this is going to be another I miss unless y'all volunteer to come down to my place the weekend before and help put the ole girl back together. Should be out of the paint shop this week. Guess I could just bolt in a seat and drive round with no interior.
ok it's sounding like we're loosing people to the PCA event... how about feb 1?
RJ, All that extra interior stuff would just weigh you down. Now maybe you could keep up with the early cars that will on the Drive. :D So, it sounds like a plan is in place. Come on up and join us.
I'm planning on being there.
So I am to assume we are still on for Jan 25. I know of one other person that is planning to be there (non pelican) on that day.
Yes. We are a GO for January 25th.
woohoo, I can't wait
Well I know weather forecast that are more than a few days out are really poor but as of now here is the forecast for the Boone area on Jan 24 and 25
Fri Jan 24 Snow 36°/17° 60 % Sat Jan 25 Partly Cloudy 34°/25° 0 % Looks like this might get postponed again. Hope not but we will see. |
I'm with you on that assessment about weather and postponing. We are still looking at meeting on Saturday, the 25th, as planned. However if the roads look bad up toward the Boone area, Racemor and I are checking maps for alternatives. We might even heading out to either the south or east based on "Oh, that road look looks like fun!" type of logic.
Stay tuned for another update... We're just watching the weather. |
Let's do It!
Ok, looks like the weather might cut us a break this weekend. :)
We could have to alter the planned route, but let's meet as scheduled on Saturday in Statesville for the 2nd Drive. Go to Exit 150 off of I-40 and go north a few hundred yards. We'll try to leave from the Antique Mall Parking lot between 9:30 and 9:45 AM. Anyone coming from Charlotte, we can meet in the Target parking lot, Exit 25 (I-77) at 8:30 AM and caravan up. Trent, if you can make it, we could pick you up at the rest area around mile marker 39. This is going to be fun. See ya then!!! |
Sounds good. I'll take a look at some maps to find an alternate route just in case.
I'm still coming from Chapel Hill.
I'm still a go from greensboro
I am a go as well and I know of two others (that don't frequent Pelican) that as strongly leaning towards a go
now that we're down to 72 hours and counting what's the latest status and headcount?
I've got 6 inches and still coming!
Well, as of 7:00 A.M., we have 6 inches of snow and it doesn't look like it's going to stop for a while. High today in the 20's, high tomorrow 34 (maybe) and gusts from 20 to 30 MPH, and about the same for Saturday. So...looks like we're gonna get snowed out again!! Unless one of you guys has about a dozen sets of Blizzaks to loan out!
Man, I'm bummed! |
yep it's lookin' the same way here. we've only got a couple inches but there's no time for it to melt. Let's give it til tomarow afternoon and see what happens. I doubt we can do the drive but stranger things have happened
I guess we'll wait and see but I think the mountains got dumped on pretty good. and with it only getting up to the teens and twenty's for highs there won't be any melt off. Here's the scene at my place in Charlotte.

Does this Pelican/NC ride have bad karma or what??? First rain and fog, then ice and now snow!!
I just spoke to Halm and we are thinking that unless a miracle happens and the North Carolina roads warm up and dry out over the next 36 hours we are going to have to reschedule yet again. I hate too, but it seems too risky at this point. Check back again Friday to make sure. |
Well, fellas I hate it for ya but I just might actually make the ride if this keeps up. Have a lil bit of interior left to go!
