With a project like this I would guess that 50% of the time is planning, finding parts, looking for solutions for new ideas etc. So if a add that to the amount of hours spent in the garage…the answer is “a lot of hours…” I hope for a lot of updates in the thread this weekend, first start-up and maybe even the first picture with the car outside of the garage if everything works as planned... :) A milestone in the project!http://forums.pelicanparts.com/support/smileys/ura.gif |
There will be more updates in the thread in the near future but here is a proof on that the project moves forward :)

Hi Hulk,
sorry - oof topic... I noticed you are using same sand blasting cabinet i have - how did you get it to work? my gun only works maybe 30% of time.... Did you change the gun or hoses from original ones to something different? Thanks back to beautiful car |
Excellent work!

Jävla Grymt , du är en Porsche GUD .
Du gjorde något vansinnigt komplex verkar enkelt , Grattis . No, I am not Swedish....I used a translator, it was the least I could do after viewing your work! |

I've connected the air hose directly on the tank to get more air flow (not only pressure) and that made it work much better. I'm qourious about if there would be a big difference to change the gun to a better one. |
The work on your car is truly impressive.
|
Beautiful! I'd like to know what headlights you are using.

I was told by an oil cooler manufacturer to not mount an oil cooler with the inlet and outlet at the bottom. Oil follows the path of least resistance and will not fill the oil cooler. And I would guess there is air in the top of the cooler than can't be bled out.
I was told to either mount the inlet/outlet ports at the top, or if you mount it sideways, so the inlet is at the bottom and the outlet at the top. |
Yes that's correct, you can mount the cooler in three different ways and this is the third best way... There is a lot of coolers that is mounted like this from the factory and also on racing cars though.
In my case I had no choice without a lot of rebuilding so I will test this way and so if it is enough or not. Keep in mind that this is not a race car and I live in a quite cold country. |
Great, great build. Makes me want to do another project.

Total cost so far?

I finally got the covers back from powder coat, a lot of work with them but they finally turned out alright. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1427963535.jpg And also a big milestone in the project, I have driven the first 100 meters with the car :D The engine had bad idle speed and low power and I didn't have any brake boost. I guess that can have a connection to each other if it sucks in air the wrong way to the intake. And some pictures... http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1427963575.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1427963606.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1427963627.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1427963644.jpg |

I have spent a lot of time in the garage lately and less updates in the building thread :)
It’s getting closer and closer a real test drive now! http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1429595699.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1429595721.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1429595740.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1429595751.jpg |
That's a dream car for sure. You are very lucky to have found this project. Nice work.

Its been some time since the last update. The car is now street legal and its great to finally bee out driving and enjoying the car and meeting all other car freaks.
I have sorted out some minor issues, the car have worked great so far and no major problems. The volume in the car is to loud so next step will be to mount a RS carpet kit in the car. Here are some pics from yesterdays cruising. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1433536567.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1433536581.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1433536592.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1433536699.jpg |
The hulk is sweet nice job

Few updates and a lot och cruising :D
The car have been working great with anly some small wiring issues. I’m working with small adjustments to make the drivability better. The short shift kit for example needed some adjustment and modification to work with the some how stubburn 915 gearbox :) I have also installed some road kill sound proofing and then an RS carpet kit on top of that. It was a LOT of carpets, a huge puzzle..but after some work it turned out good. It was extra difficult with the cage. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1434543102.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1434543114.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1434543132.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1434543144.jpg Since I don’t have a watch I installed a large oil pressure light (I don’t see the std light with my steering wheel). http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1434543185.jpg I have also installed the electric windows and took the decision not to make holes in the new RS door panels. I installed new switches in the centre instead (thanks for the tip from a Pelican member). http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1434543223.jpg Bonus picture :) http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1434543252.jpg |
