Nice build.

Krukhaug77 02-27-2015 05:12 AM

[QUOTE=Speedster_;8507201]Ok, now I think a got it :)

I kept it and it looks like this:

The plastic clips is from Volvo, very strong but also easy to remove if needed:

Many thanks speedster, your skills is awsome ;)

Krukhaug77 02-27-2015 08:53 AM

Did you run the soft oil-lines inside the original rockers or outside on the back of the rs- sideskirts?

preston_brown 02-27-2015 09:15 AM

Speedster: NICE WORK. Very impressive, good job with the body.

But you're gonna need more power. ;)

I've put them between the rocker and the side panel except the last bit where they go on the inside of the rocker. It is a tight fit (I have 993 rockers). I think I have some photos if you want to see more.

I'm looking for it!! :) I think the car will weigh in on appr. 1200kg so I need some more power but not a huge amount. I need to start with this engine to get the car approved by the authority (after that I can go wild...).

If anyone have some horspowers for sale, let no know!

Yes then i've got it right, i see the hole you cut on the rocker , and the clicknuts to fastener for the lines, i to have 993 rockers:)

On the top of this side you see a picture of mine where it is by now:

Where did you by the oil cooler setup?

Speedster_ 03-01-2015 10:44 AM

Hi,

Finally I got some time to work on the car :) I installed the engine and it went quite smooth without any major problems but I have some questions that I hope that I can get some help with!

First some pictures if the installation. The caps for the valves is being powder coated (thats the reason for the plastic protection).

Next step will be to install the modified oil lines.

Then some questions regarding the electric part… The car is a mix of 83 and 85 plus the 3.2 engine so its not always easy to figure everything out and this part of the project is my weakest area (except the english language ;) ). Please help me!!! :)

I have two connections and one sensor that I couldn’t find the right place for. Are they going to the heater fan (that I don’t have) and thats the reason way I couldn’t figure it out?

Speedster_ 03-01-2015 10:47 AM

Second question is were the 3.2 engine wiring should be connected to?

The large red is for the battery? The smaller red to the fuel pump fuse (up or under the fuse)? The two black to ”fuse” somewhere…(up or under the fuse)? The three ones on the same contact (black/black-purple/yellow), where?

http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1425238792.jpg

http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1425238809.jpg

This is the fuse central... Some loose cables here to, need to figure them out...

http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1425239199.jpg

Bonus question... Where should all these wiring end up. A tip would be great so I know where to start...

http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1425238871.jpg

Speedster_ 03-01-2015 10:11 PM

Fixed the missing puctures connected to the question...

SpyderMike 03-02-2015 04:48 PM

I think the yellow, black/violet/black one consists of wires (yellow from the ignition, and black/violet with black coming from the tachometer) and going to the DME control unit.

http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1425347312.jpg

SpyderMike 03-02-2015 04:49 PM

http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1425347335.jpg

So here the ring terminal goes to the battery, the two black go to the top of fuse box 1 fuse 8 (11 fuses from the left) and the red/green goes to fuse box 1 top of fuse 3 (6 fuses from the left). You should see dames wires cut at those locations.

SpyderMike 03-02-2015 04:56 PM

Now this mess:
http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1425347477.jpg

Looks like these two that go to the center console for autoheat and the single skinny brown/white is for the parking brake switch:
http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1425347581.jpg

and the brown two pin connector goes to the rear brake wear sensors if I recall correctly:
http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1425347622.jpg

Speedster_ 03-02-2015 09:48 PM

Thanks SpyderMike, that was really helpful!!

Some more questions...

Now I just need to figure the last three out (red, black and black). If I look at the connection they all look like the go in to the fuse terminal.
http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1425363631.jpg

And when I look at the fuse terminal I have one connection where two black wires been cutted (marked red), mayby thats where the two blacks from the engine harness should end up. Then I also have all the ones marked with orange that are cut. I have some work to do...
http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1425364903.jpg

The one that I marked, thats for the speed? I dont have anything to connect it to so I need to see if its hidden in the tunnel somewhere...
http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1425363643.jpg

So the yellow from the ignition, and black/violet with black coming from the tachometer, I guess I can connect the yellow somewhere in the fusebox that gets power from the ignition? Then I just have to figure out what cabel goes to the tachometer before I know where to connect the black and black/violet ;)
It is a mess behind the dashboard right now...

preston_brown 03-03-2015 05:41 AM

Incorrect, disregard.

The one you marked with a red circle in post #53 is for the rear brake wear sensors.
But it connects to the gearbox :)

yep I misspoke. Definitely for your speedo. And so there should be a pair of wires in the tunnel, or you'll have to run new ones...

SpyderMike 03-04-2015 04:53 PM

The connector with yellow, black/violet and black should connect to a mate in the trunk...they do not go to the fuse panel.

The two black crimped together look like the ignition coil feed from the DME relay. They are from top of fusebox 1 fuse 8 on my 1985 (fuse 11 from the left). The red/green is your power feed from the DME relay to the top of fusebox 1 fuse 3 (fuse 6 from the left) for the fuel pump.

If you want to work through your fuse panel one issue at a time probably works best. Do you have the Bentley or Haynes manual?

SpyderMike 03-04-2015 05:32 PM

Let's sort this out:

This is from my car:

You have the two wires there with the faston connections. Just plug them in correctly!

Great SpyderMike! Now I have the speedo sorted out! Pictures to illustrate is the best!!

I do have Haynes manual but the wiring diagram is little of of mess in that I think (or it might be me ;) )

Your input about the wiring in front were interesting. The fuse 11 from left in my fuse box (see picture above) have two cut black cables in it so that’s probably where they should connect to. The fuse 6 that’s where the red/green should go in is also holding a cut cable today! The problem is that its cut in the other end also ;) But I guess that is plus to the fuel pump (I need to look at the wiring diagram)?

I looked at the back of my tachometer and I have found the black/purple there, the black cable didn’t have any connection in the tachometer but I guess the reason is that I have an older tachometer then the engine!? I will try to find if there is any other place to connect them then to take the cables back to the tachometer.

I’m getting closer and closer with your support, thanks!!

Now I need to figure out all the cables behind the gauges…I will probably start from all the transmitters/sensors on the engine and see to which gauge it should connect to.

It looks like I got hold of a pair of G50 flanges also to modify to fit the 915 gearbox! Waiting for response on delivery.

If anyone got a picture of where it connect if the car is a 3.2, would just be interesting to see how it looks when original.

Meanwhile when I figure the wiring out a also do some "baking" (but no cakes :) )

http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1425756531.jpg

The driveshaft is soon ready and did get some extra attention with powder coat in the same color as the car.

http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1425756547.jpg

I've also restored the oil tank and added connections for hoses so its ready to install. As soon as the wiring is done its time for a test start...soon...maybe...

http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1425756558.jpg

My new G50 flanges will arrive tomorrow, I hope that I can get them to work.
