Turn signal wierdness

The turn indicators (in the tach) are dull glow all the time (when car is running) When I turn on the left signal, the right indicator blinks, right signal makes the left indicator blink.
Stalk switch is new, front and rear signals are working properly (all grounds cleaned, etc). Flasher makes proper noise, and as said, lights themselves work properly.
This car does have a history of hillbilly wiring - poorly installed alarm, stereo, etc.
Has anyone had this happen, and if so what was the solution?
Thanks.
-C

When my TS relay went bad the dash light indicators were erratic and it would stick on or off or the tick/tock sound would be erratic even though the actual turn signals were working fine.

I had a very similar issue, plus lots more. I found it very strange that the outside blinkers and flashers worked fine, but the tach lights were doing odd things. Turned out that several of the wires between the stalk, the hazard flasher, and the light switch were connected to the wrong terminals.

Double check that your wiring is correct.

Check the 6 pin plug to the stalk is fully seated.
Also check hazard light wires are good.
Does it work properly when hazards turned on?

I'll go back through the connections (again). I replaced the electrical portion of the ignition switch a while back, an had the light switch out when I did the stalk switch. Might have crossed something up. I also have a new (used) tach to install, so when I do that I'll double check that all is grounded and properly wired.
Thanks all,
-C
