Which Fuchs to use on the track?

I have a '85 Carrera with 7x16" Fuchs front and 8x16" at the back. Somebody told me that 15" Fuchs are 'faster' than 16". Is there any truth to that? Do they weigh less or what? All I can think of is the fact that the diameter is different.

Reason I'm asking: I need track wheels for my car and was thinking of getting 7x15" and 8x15" since the tyres are more affordable.

What do you guys use for the track? Should I stick with 16"?

The 15" ones are often recommended because they effectively lower the gearing with their smaller diameter when used with lower than stock profile tires. Investigate track tire availablility in the sizes you are interested in before making up your mind.

I use the same combo you're talking about on my SC. Kumho makes some great track tires in 225/45x15 for the rear that actually have a slightly lower diameter than the 205/50 fronts. If you haven't put massive brakes on your car, they'll work just fine.

15 inch will work fine with Carrera brakes. I use 15 inch.

Not only do they lower the gear ratio, reduce rotating and unsprung weight, and cost less - they also lower the height so you will get less body roll.

15's will lower the gear ratio's slightly, if you get the proper aspect ratio tires... If you don't you'll have taller, more flexible sidewalls to contend with...

The only decent track tire made in a 245/xx/15 is Hoosier... No one else makes a good radial track tire...
