Need help finding sheet metal part! 73 Targa

Hey guys, I am hoping someone can help me identify/locate the exact part I need. I have a 73 Targa and the vertical ~ 1' tall panel area ABOVE the rear seats (the part directly BEHIND the vertical part of the "parcel shelf trim panel") needs to be replaced. I have called and talked to Pelican and the guy THINKS that this part is the small top piece of the "rear seat bottom" sheet metal replacement parts, but it does not look like it to me. (that flange is too small to be the whole area between the seat bottom and the top of the parcel shelf sheet metal) They do not seem to sell the separate vertical rear panel I need.

After much searching, I came across the website for Restoration Design which lists a part PP237B, a "1971-89 Seat back/ rear bulkhead" which sure looks like what I would need, BUT when I emailed them to ask if it fits a '73 Targa (it does not specify targa or coupe), the guy there replied that he did not know and that I should consult the PET online or a parts manual.... (kind of frustrating as I assume if you make parts you would need to know what they fit on....) which I have done numerous times and cannot seem to find this info. Also, even if I did find this info, how would I know if this part number correlates to theirs??

Does anyone know if A) The part from restoration design fits a '73 Targa?
B) If that is the part I need for this area??
C) If that is not the part I need, does anyone know the part I need and where to find it?

Thanks so much!

OK sure thing, guess I should have tried to do that earlier! I just searched the web and found a "naked" rear seat area and circled the part I need in red. This LOOKS like the part I mentioned above, definitely NOT part of the "rear seat panels". I just need to make sure to get the right one for my '73 Targa. Thanks!

I do not know of any supplier for that section. RD offers the panels above and below this.

Depending on how rusty your's is you could fab the vertical section with a bead roller and some time. Alternatively, you can find a parts supplier to cut the part out of an existing tub. I have used 20th St Auto in Phoenix with great results for sheet metal. Make sure you send the vendor a picture like this with the section clearly marked.

I am currently replacing this on my 72 project. I have a full pan from rear seats to rear window that is being replaced as one section.

Also, the sheet metal will be the same from 73 through 83. I am not sure about the 84-89 Carrera. The later sheet metal will probably work but there may be differences in how the rear deck panel attaches.

In other words, It does not have to be a 73 panel.

The 71 and earlier are much different and will not fit your car.
