Post ppi recourse?

I had a PPI done by a shop before I bought my car, and they reported no problems other than needing an AC charge. Another inspection after I bought it by a different shop (my local shop, bought the car out of town) gave different results, indicating 3 minor oil seeps, one shock starting to weep, and suggested a valve adjust (none of these were considered "imminent" required repairs however, and other than that totally clean). Would you chalk this up to acceptable differences of opinion of mechanics, or should I give the original shop a hard time about being lackadasical?

and btw, yes I am whack. Thanks for caring!

Isn't it wonderful how acronyms are multifunctional?

I had a PPI on my '87 Carrera which did not catch worn tie rod ends (I got turbo tie rods put in last week). I've since taken it to 2 local PCA tech sessions and had differing opinions at both. The first said I needed my half-shafts regreased -- second said maybe -- wrench said not at all. Second tech session discovered slight leak on lower cam cover, but said not to worry. Wrench said my failing right front turn signal was just a bad bulb -- I didn't buy it and it died again two days later.

A few years ago, a wrench told me my '87 BMW's engine was on its last legs and to start shopping for another car. 60k miles later, I've had nothing but a new clutch, timing belt change and a few valve adjustments done to it and it runs great with 239k miles on it.

Bottom line -- there are a lot of differing opinions in this area. As long as it's not a safety issue or imminent engine rebuild, make your to-do list and get on it, as you have time and money for it. Most importantly, however, is to DRIVE THE CAR AND ENJOY IT.
