Need urgent help..removing inner CV boot, crimped in?

Hi folks, I am up to my elbows in this and it is booked for inspection tomorrow,I am running out of time..

I have the joint off the stub axle, and the boot and flange are split (because the boot has split).

The remains of the boot at the cv joint end are bonded or crimped somehow into the flange, how do I get this off to fit the new boot?

It must be simple..but wasnt mentioned in the procedure in 101 projects..help please!!

The boot and the flange are usually sold as one pre-assembled unit. What do you have?

I think I have seen some of the boots bonded to the flange with only a small clamp for the axle side

Sorry, its a 79 euro SC. I bought a boot from a generic parts website. Its just a boot.

I think I have the sort with the boot bonded to the flange…and think that is the sort that I now need to buy.

Tomorrow isn't looking good.

There is a clamp that holds the boot onto the flange. I have re-used mine in the past. They are available separately.

Hi folks, this is the one I have - if you look inside the end of the boot is bonded in with a folded seam of metal.
I just got the wrong part - but in my defence it is hard to know what you have until it is on the bench and de-crudded.

What you have is an original style Genuine Porsche boot.

The boot and flange are crimped together.
Bolt the whole thing up against the CV.

The aftermarket GKN Lobro kits use a 2 piece style with a separate flange and boot. These get a clamp.

One tip, many either use a zip tie or no clamp at all on the inner (small) end of the boot at the axle.
