Correct Heater Hose set up? (76 911)
Hi All -
What is the proper set up for heater hoses in a 76 911, without A/C? Here's what I have now, the hoses are the same as when I bought the car in 1984 so I'm assuming they are stock, at least from the dealer that installed the A/C. I'm having trouble finding a source for the metal hose that runs from the blower to the heat exchanger - no one stocks the smaller diameter hose. Plus, I'm wondering if the reducer on the right side was something the dealer put in, to enable the hose to fit under the A/C bracket? Should I have the larger diameter hose all the way from the heat exchanger to the blower motor? If so, then does this hose fit over the blower motor inlet (it's inside now, which makes sense considering the direction of airflow. Does anyone have any pictures of the 'as delivered' set up? ![]()

That hose/routing you have is correct.
It does look like you are missing the two "hose supports" that get attached to the fan shroud and then the smaller hose gets clamped to them. Also, hard to see in your pic. but based on your description, you are missing the reducer/expander that goes between the end of the small hose and the blower motor housing. The small tube should not be inside of the motor housing. You are right in your assumption that the reducer and smaller hose are to allow clearance when running AC. Even cars without AC use the same set up. Bending the larger hose over the fan shroud and past the air box would be a little challenging. The smaller hose should be available from Porsche. there are two types of reducers. There is one that fits over the end of the heat exchanger to adapt to the small size there, (cars with AC,) and the style that you show in your picture. What is on the heat exchanger end? either way, most people get that hose from 'spruce' which is an aircraft parts supply house.
