I'm trying to determine where the three wires pictured go on my 68s engine. Can anyone give me a clue? I thought I took diligent photos befote j removed it, but apparently not...

What color are the wires? Hard to tell if they are striped in the pictures

One is brown, one is red and black and the third is white and light green.

The brown and red/black should be for a second thermo-time switch but it looks like your oil breather cover just has a single switch. Not sure what the white/green is for.

Green/white is normally for oil level.

I was going to say oil level also but that wire is far away from the oil level sender so I'm guessing it's something else.

Just looked at the print before saying oil level.
Don't see any other green/white or white/green wires running to the engine area.
Porsche loved to run spares but they usually didn't terminate them with a 90.
And having just built a '67 harness I don't remember there being one.
I agree that wire shouldn't be in that location of it is green/white for the oil level.
Maybe it is a color fade and the op can get a look at the wire that isn't faded for the colors.
Green/ white is the color to the idiot light for oil pressure sender on later years as well.
Maybe a wire spliced in place of one that failed at some point?

As far as I can tell, every visible sender and hookup on the engine has it's associated wire. Unfortunately I don't remember if these wires dead ended when I pulled the engine. When I get home I can re-confirm the colors and take better pictures.

Isn't the wire black-red instead of red-black ? Is this engine build in to a 914 (Vintage914racer) The harness looks a lot like a 914 and only the 914 has black-red in the engine wiring (used for the ignition coil) and also a green-white wire at that position.

It is indeed in a factory 914-6. I ignorantly figured that since it has a 911 power plant that the wires would be the same. Apparently not.

That was a good catch Gerald, it would have been nice to know the engine is in a 914 body with a 914 harness.

Two of the wires in question are circled in red. I'll have to take closer look when I get home to remember where the 3rd comes out.
