Unhappy

Dickster,

mines garage is like that , I cant even drive the car in, too narrow to open the doors. Consequence of living in S. England I guess. Still pleased to hear you get your car in. When I have to put mine away, I end up pushing it in!!!

PS - you should paint the walls, it makes load of difference to the light levels, a tin of white emulsion is only 10quid.

cheers

h

h,

christ, mines large in comparison!

i thought about the white, but i've got two 5 foot flourecents in there - may need to change to doubles. the walls are made from 'orrible breeze blocks that take a 'ell of a lot of painting (tiny holes).

yes, mine is breeze blocks too, didnt take too long with a roller. Slap it on thick, its not like its your living room (although I do spend more time in it!!!)

Two questions. First. Why do you have to split the caliper to rebuild it? I thought you could pop out the pistons, clean the bores, re-seal without splitting them. Second. What are "breeze blocks", I have a construction background (here in the USA) and I'm just curious.

the calipers are easier to work on thats all.

breeze blocks are larger than bricks as seen in pics (not sure of std size as i haven't worked in construction for over 10 years),

usually used where the cosmetics doesn't matter or they get covered.

they're made from like a concrete and light aggregate (small stones etc) mix. sort of like a concrete driveway.

for non load bearing walls you can use softer ones, load bearing (two in my garage) are much denser (?) concrete and are a real PITA to drill.

well, thats my uneducated explaination!!

If you must split the calipers, how about bolting them up to the strut to hold em while you unbolt them?

I just re-built my 930 calipers and bought a full set of gaskets and scrapers. I didn't need six of the scrapers, so I didn't use them. New, they were about $25 each from the dealer. I'll sell them to you (unused in Porsche wrappers) at a great price...

Part # 930 351 547 00

E-mail me if you are interested.

BTW, I never broke mine apart. Just cleaned the really well, new seals and a couple new scrapers... Perfect now!
