what will i find?engine drop update
put the car on the lift today to locate my oil leaks heres what i found, 1-both valve covers leaking 2-pulley seal leaking 3-major leak coming from transmision-motor area 4 -possible #6 cylinder head leak. the oil after draing smelled alittle like gas and wasnt as thick as i would have liked it to look if that makes much sense?my motor by the way is a 2.2t. any more sugestions or coments are welcome. i plan on bring the car home friday and start taking it out sat. morning.first time for me im getting alittle excited. im not worried about the pulley seal or valve cover gasket replacement, but the leak in transmision-motor mount area will be new territory for me, what will i find when i seperate the motor and trans?

The leak is probably from the top of the motor. The thermostat or breather housing are likely candidates. The oil leaks down and around the motor. When you drop the motor and get the shroud off you'll be able to see alot better.
Gas in oil sounds like the car was running too rich. Carbs do run rich in general and require more frequent oil changes. It may not be more than normal. |

Normally I would say that gas in the oil is caused by a bad or leaking MFI pump, but if your engine is a 2.2T, it should be equipped with carbs?
