Angry busted!

5200V.C. - No front plate on vehicle

rat bastards...they were swarming like flies on Jefferson Bl. this morning. I saw 5 motorcycle cops within 5 blocks and they were *active*.

Oh well...time to get the duct tape out

Or, think bra...with a clear pocket sewn in the lowest point that a plate can slip into...you're then "legal", but I doubt the red light camera or the camera of a radar trailer could get a clear pic of the plate. Not that I'd ever advocate the disobediance of any traffic laws...

i have an orange boat with the sticker , but no numbers. the you could see me / hear me from two miles away has worked three times.never the same officer.

i need to put them on. the law is the law.

you could say the bracket rusted out and fell off. or aliens took it for their spaceship . yea, that's the ticket.

the judge might give you sympathy if you put it on and have been a good boy.

I'm afraid that this is the price of doing biz as far as driving a p-car in LA County.

It's nothing more than a form of revenue enhancement for the county. A front plate does nothing more than provide a means of ID'ing you by camera if you run a red light, and it has cameras set up.

Barring you running a red light, then it's just another easy ticket for the motor officer to show he's actually doing something other than using up gas, which is also added to his monthly "target" (Not quota mind you..!) of tickets written, which is one form of guaging his productivity.

I see at least 50% of all cars with no front plate here in Orange county. Not many people here get written up for it.....but go to LA county and it's a whole different ball game.

Is it still just a "fix-it" ticket?

What is the estimated cost of continued non-compliance?

it's a fix-it ticket, so not that big a deal. Mike I don't think I was the one that said that to you, but it is true that afaik the front plate has NEVER been on my car. In fact, I don't think the valence is even drilled (I'll have to check). The front plate is sitting in the truck with a bracket...

So what do you have to do? Mount a plate and have an officer sign off on it? Any fees?

In case you didn't guess, I'm a habitual offender.

You guys running no front plate !? Do you have any idea how DANGEROUS that is !?
It's only fun until someone gets hurt.
It's a darn good thing we have law enforcement on this. . .you know, nobody is above the law.

Yeah, I'm with Island on this one. You people running without front license plates should hang your heads in shame. Think if the little children. Oh, the inhumanity of it all! Well, it's just a good thing that law enforcement personnel take time out from homicide, child abuse, human rights and corporate theft investigations to rid the streets of you society-destroyers.

In Arizon they don't require a front plate yet still give out photo radar for speeding and running red lights, they photograph the driver and rear plate.

How do you run a front plate with a front mounted oil cooler? Since two of the posters in this thread have done conversions and I live in a state where a front plate is required, I thought there might be some ideas.

If I didn't have custom plates, I'd just throw it in the back seat on the floor and when stopped, claim that it fell off and I hadn't put it back on yet. See?

I believe the law states a front "plate", If memory serves it doesn't have to be a license plate. I believe any type of plate will work. And no, I'm not talking about a dinner plate.

Mark, that's what I'm gonna say about my inside rear view mirror, if it becomes an issue. It's in the trunk.

Jim, I dont believe an inside rear view mirror needed if you have both side view mirrors. (think about trucks)

It's about $25, and two hours of your day. I've gotten three or four, now. I take the plates right back off.

Vanity tax.

It is a world-wide problem. I got a ticket for no front plate within two days here in New Zealand AND it had fallen off and it was in the passenger footwell.

Policeman wouldn't lend me a screwdriver to put it back on either...

Slow down guys....look at some of the big rigs on the road....they have front plates that swing up out of the way when the truck is moving (hinged).
Soooo....put the plate on the front...let it hang down to the ground....put a choke cable on it....pull the cable out to raise the plate....push the cable in to lower it.
Just don't move it while the cop is looking!!
Honest officer...I have a front plate (exit car while pushing knob)...gee officer, for a minute there I thought I might have lost it !

Not sure about this, but I think that on the dashboard is legal. If so, you could have it in the car, throw it on the dash when you see them doing "revenue enhancement", or even while getting pulled over. I would just tell them that there is no provision on the front for it, (when I install RUF bumpers).

Any Minnesotans out there know whether front plates are required? I have MN. plates on 911 now, planned on telling cops that it is not required in MN. I see a LOT of not quite new anymore cars with NO plates at all in L.A., people get away w/ that one forever sometimes.
