Hello all.
My passenger window struggles to close up when it gets to about 3/4 of the way up when the door is open. It stops when it gets to the same position when the door is closed, and I have to help it up by hand or stop and open the door, so I wonder if there's an alignment issue. I have tried to adjust the positioning using the correct bolts but I end up putting it back where it came from as it makes the problem worse. I've read posts on the spring retaining pin shearing, and I did find one of these in each of the door pockets when I bought the car last year, but I cant think the window will work if these are broken off, although it does make sense that if the spring is not helping the window up then it will be more difficult for the motor. The drivers window works flawlessly Any ideas at all?

Seems like Porsche's have slow power windows.
My 1977 911 they work fine but man are they slow. My 1982 924 was similar on both but now the passenger really moves. Lost the power lead so I put a new circuit in off the battery and it flies up/down Last edited by GLASEM; 08-29-2010 at 04:51 PM.. |

I had the same sort of problem with my 88 Targa, I replaced the felt channel peice and lubed the pivot points on the mechanism and now it goes up with no problem...still kinda slow but much smoother, check out this post for more info:

The passenger side on my 87 was slow and intermittent too. I repaired the switches, realigned it and used graphite on the runners all to no avail. What I finally tracked it to was a really tight main pivot on the regulator. I used lots of light oil and worked the window up and down repeatedly by applying power directly to it from a battery charger. It's still slow but at least it works now.

Hah this is 6 years old and I see now follow up post on a resolution. I have a really slwo passenger window too, my car is a 1975 with an original passenger door and a 964 drivers door, the drivers window goes up fast, the passenger is slow and need help for the last 2 inches. Does the 964 have a better/faster window motor? Should I bother trying to fix my slow passenger window?

Hi Puddy, You might want to check the power window fuse. Slow windows or wipers are often caused by a bad fuse.

OK, i'll look into that fuse but my old hotrod is missing many wires in the fuse panel and some things don't seem to line up with the factory diagrams.

I ran into this today. When the door was open the window would go significantly faster than the door closed. I pulled the door cards, cleaned the rails and inspected the regulator. All seemed to be fine. Channel where glass sits was removed and cleaned and glass went back in using proper agent, kept it overnight to dry.
Upon further investigation I found the problem was the door. When **** it would push the window frame out and when the window rolls up the glass would catch on something preventing to go up/down quickly. I went ahead and pulled the window frame, installed it back realigning properly. Adjusted the door. And the glass would raise lower super quick like as it should. When you shut your door pay attention to your window frame. If it is pushing out as the door closes you will run in issues. I guess this helps a bit! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

That's a great suggestion, I'll look to see if my frame is out of line.
Thanks!
