Testing a Permatune CDI

I want to test a Permatune CDI box, do I have to use their coil as well or is it just a plug and play situation?

Thanks Lorne M.

If you are just going to put it on the car and see if it works I don't believe any special coil tweaks are necessary.

Here is Permatune's link on installation. Note in the first couple of paragraphs the ignition coil is mentioned. Main thing is the resistance should be in the correct range and they reference a bench test. I did not look for the bench test in their site but I believe it is there.

Helpful reading.

Thanks Bob, I was hoping to just plug it in to the harness and add an extra ground and hope for the best.

Thanks again Lorne M.

usual test is to toss in in a lake. If it floats, it MIGHT work.

Sorry you are mistaken, that test was for heretics or witches

Bob is correct, go to the permatune website and find the instructions, very easy to check to see if it is ok. In other words, if I can do it, you can. Steve
