Opinion: can you really see replated calipers through Fuchs?

All,

I'm considering replacing all four corners of my 82 SC with PMB calipers, mainly to get the factory yellow look, but also b/c I don't know the full history of the calipers I have. Car brakes fine/great now but I'm looking for a new project.

With modern wheels ,you can clearly see calipers while the car is moving, but the cutouts on Fuchs are so much smaller, I wonder if they are visible while the car is rolling or whether it's just more of a "look closely and you'll see it" sort of improvement.

Anyone have any experience/quick thoughts on this? Thanks!

Yes.

I have clean front rotors, cad plating is clearly visible through fuchs and euro-fakies

Yup -- you can see 'em and PMB do a superb job.

I'd disagree and say not really... yes, you CAN see a little of them but not enough to notice. I don't even bother trying to clean mine off when I wash the car.

how is this an "opinion"? you can either see them or you can't. Yes you can see them, but no it's not seeing as in showing them off. It's subtle pleasure/satisfaction.

McLaren the words "really see" were meant to ask about a practical visual opinion, not a matter of fact. Forums make subtlety difficult. Others understood.

2 votes yes, 2 no/not really, 1 yes for red. Anyone else?

Sure, they'll look nice, but why mess with the brakes if they work fine right now? Unless they're rusty or the seals are shot I would leave well enough alone.

I don't think you will notice them unless they are a contrasting color like red or yellow.

You could also paint them silver or red with caliper paint. They look good in either, and it makes a nice project. Also bleed out the old fluid and flush the system. Another good project that helps keep things young.

I have PMB-reconditioned calipers and they work flawlessly. I would not hesitate to use them again.

I love my PMB brakes, you can definitely see them and they look awesome. I have no regrets on that decision.

Da fuk?

I get hot young poon all day, every day, with my four corner cross drilled rotors and useless, for the most part, Boxster front upgrade.

My brakes have worked superbly ever since I had them done by PMB. I don't have any photos thru the wheels but yes, you can see them a bit - subtle, but that is how I prefer it.
