Manual Window regulator

I have a 79 911SC and replaced the electric window regulators with Manual Parallel arm regulators. The pivot on the manual regulators is good. After install I had a problem raising the window and half way up the gears would slip and make a clicking noise(the gears slipping). I can pull the window up with no problem, I made sure that the bolts at the rear of the window frame are not the 16mm ones and even with the window frame loose I still have the same problem. I cleaned and replaced the slides that go into the frame that attaches to the bottom of the window and the window channel is not binding.

Help!! I don't want to go to a window strap but at this point that is my only option, and I don't have any hair to pull out, I'm already bald on top!

Thanks, but it didn't help.
The pivot pin has been replaced and outside of the car it cranks nice and smoothly. I even cleaned the plastic slides and keeper washer and springs.

Does anyone know if the ribbon spring is suppose to be in tension with the Window up or with the window down?

Thanks for any help!

Dog I found this after searching for regulator pivot posts, I'm going through the same thing, HarryD mentioned....

You want the spring at full tension when the window is down and minimum tension when up, that way the spring helps you to lift the window and the weight of the window helps to wind the spring.

It makes sense.
