Question Cruise Control Troubleshooting

The cruise control on my 84 will not disengage when I hit the clutch or brake. My mechanic has adjusted the switch under the pedals -- still no good. It holds speed, and will accelerate, but won't disengage. Servo?

How should I troubleshoot this?

Hi, Is your cruise control a vacuum or an electric unit?
If it is a vacuun unit, check the vent on the servo. It is operated by a solenid, controlled by the brain. I have seen inscects build a nest in there. After that, make sure the brake lamps have power at the switch and that the signal is gettin to the cruise brain.

That was a moment of sheer panic in a 928 when it would not release.

Hope it helps
Geoff.
