Awesome! Enjoy it.

KY,
You are the perfect customer for the Chip+Injector package, we diagnosed your issue down to faulty stock injectors. At this point new ones would run you $800 or more and sending them for refurb is $150 - $200 with no guarantee they can all be refurbed. Even when they are serviced they DO NOT and can NOT service the coils. With my solution you get brand new 6 hole modern day disk style injectors, they atomize fuel much better than the old single hole and they improve MPG and idle quality. Then the solution comes with a tuned performance chip, all this for the price of new injectors. For your car it just made sense since you had problematic injectors. The added bonus is that I also found cracked solder joints in your DME, this was also fixed at no additional charge while I had your DME. Quote:

I was wondering what happened to this thread. Any updates for the folks who have this package? It seemed like a very cool option.

Brakel8 - it isnīt just a cool option, but rather a solid trustworthy upgrade to the original system. I have mine in place for several years and have been extremely pleased with the results. I would have to say that the throttle response is one of the biggest improvements. Given the age of our cars, at some points you will have to replace your fuel and engine management components, so rather than replace it with new dated equipment, I figured it would make more sense to take the opportunity to swap out for a far more modern and reliable solution.

My exact thinking David, appreciate your feedback!

Where I think Sal shines is in his demand that your car be right before he does any tuning. He wouldn't just sell me a chip. He said "I'm not going to mask problems by selling you a chip". He has a checklist that I had to go through and report back with results. As issues were encountered, Sal gave suggestions on what to look for and how to correct. I have a well sorted 3.2 thanks to Sal.
As for dyno results for his products, not a lot of info out there that I can recall. I know my car with just his chip installed performs better than it did prior to. At a point I'll probably go to his injector solution as well. |
Buy a stand alone and pay someone to programit if you cant do it yourself.
Nothing sucks as bad as trying to explain to somebody who has no idea what you need and they decide what you need..... buy something you can tune yourself.

is sal still around?????

Yes. He's on FB too.

A truly outstanding resource, Sal is! He spent so much time over months with me on our car, '86 M491, and the result was a better educated owner, much more proficient mechanic, and a wonderfully well running Porsche! Plus about 100 for Sal. Know your car and its systems!

I do not offer this chip + inj kit anymore simply because often the AFM has issues also. I only offer my MAF these days.
Plenty of dyno sheets on this site, search 'carceller maf' Here's a fantastic recipe for single plug 3.4L, only thing I'd change is increase compression to 10.3:1 http://forums.pelicanparts.com/porsche-911-technical-forum/962997-1984-911-3-4-sleeper-hotrod-end.html Pay very close attention to the exhaust setup! And here you have a well done 3.5L twin plug http://forums.pelicanparts.com/porsche-911-technical-forum/1077817-84-89-3-2l-upgraded-3-5l-267-wheel-hp.html Again play close attention to the exhaust! I can not stress this enough, on this dyno sheet you see clearly what it costs if you get the exhaust wrong. Enjoy |
Another +100 for Sal. My car was a bit of a basket case when the system was installed, and the time and effort he took to get it right was so over and above it hurts to think about. Not mention the whole experience got me interested in control theory and embedded systems.
