Hmm...any deeper knocking I have heard was not temp dependent. The ones I have heard did not go away with RPM...their speed just increased but you could still feel them. That higher pitched valve tapping type sounds I have heard temp dependent (in my car). Strange one you have there.

I had a knock/tick that sounded exactly like yours and recently had my wrench try to locate the source. He found my rockers and shafts were a little worn with with score marks one side.
My cams and rockers are headed out to be redone so I wont exactly know if its gone until they get back but I had my heads done around 7k miles ago and the shop reinstalled the rockers and shafts as is (they had 98k miles on them at that point. Good luck
