Engine conversion help needed 3.2/901

I'd like to attach a 3.2 to a 901 trans. What clutch, flywheel and pressure plate do I need? Thanks, Mark

Part numbers if you have them.

Hey Mark - Check with Scotty. He has all of my PMS parts to connect my 901 to the 3.2. Happy New Year. Michael

If you're easy on initial takeoff and don't use first gear, it may last for a bit. Same could be said for CV joints. There's a reason Porsche went with the 915 and then G50 gearboxes.

3.2 901 clutch conversion parts "kit" larrym

- The clutch kit consists of these parts: – kit cost me $1050 in 2007 from GPR
Sachs 0251 410 31K 228mm disc,
KEP (Kennedy) Stage 1 Pressure Plate,
Porsche 901 102 033 01 Flywheel,
+ 130-tooth ring gear extension (no part no.)
Sachs 3151 132 132 T.O. brg,

(PP & disc are stock VW bus clutch items)

caveat - there is a variant 915 FW - uses a different T.O. brg (i have that FW/Clutch/TO packed away in a box - remnant of a project i gave up on) - you will see both in the Pelican catalog
.

i am running this setup - and so are lots of 914-er conversions - many threads on this, esp On 914World

p.s. - have PCA friend who ran a 350 chevy in a 914 scca race car with a 901- never killed the 901 - most cognoscenti i've consulted believe that the 901 will handle 250 hp if you treat 1st gently as suggested above - many threads on this, esp On 914World

- i never start in 1st at AX (but i do use 1st to get started up the hill of my driveway)

AND
(i have 2 good extra 901's if i ever somehow get stupid & forget during a red mist that i can't rev to 6000 & drop the clutch in 1st)

(and i have a 915 & Bott 916 kit on the shelf as well)

,
