cold start csv location?

Car is a 77 911 with 79sc 3.0L engine. I'm having a bit of a cold start issue where the car sounds like it's about to start but requires a lot of cranking and time before it actually goes. I'm suspecting an issue with the coldstart valve can someone please point me to where I will find the cold start valve under the hood. I'm not used to working on porsche and don't know where to find it. any pics would help a lot...thanks!

It's not in the easiest location but it is accessible. You have to feel around the back, lower side of the air box.

I changed it on my 1980 SC with the engine in the car. It's doable. A slight engine drop would help. The picture doesn't show it but there is an electrical connector on the blue connection/thingy on the CSV. You push down on a little spring clip to remove if I recall correctly.

I d check your control pressures first, highly unlikely the csv failed. A easy check is to make sure the connection on the thermo time switch are good it's on the left side timing chain cover. If you're not used to working on a Porsche the cis system is not a good place to start. I would see if there's a experienced Pelican close by that can help you out.

^^This^^

There are quite a few easy tests/checks you can do, even without checking the fuel pressures, to narrow down the area of concern. Don't jump to conclusions that the CSV is a problem.

I suggest you add to this post. Tell us exactly what's going on when you try to start the engine, and what you've tried so far as a remedy, if anything. Your problem has elements of several CIS issues so the more we know and the more feedback we get from you, the easier it will be.

This may be useful for you, obviously you do not have a the throttle lever in the cockpit so you can ignore that.
Engine Fails to Start

you may also test the cold start valve

I've been experiencing what could be similar issues. If I tap the gas pedal after I crank the key, it starts right up, but it's rough for about 5 - 10 seconds, then normal. I'd like to try this test, seeing if the valve clicks. Any ideas where terminal B+ is? Is this on the rear fuse panel or in the trunk?
